Museums

Salvador Dali Museum: World's largest collection of works by the Spanish surrealist.

Florida International Museum: Smithsonian affiliated museum. Permanent John F. Kennedy and Cuban Missile Crisis exhibitions plus special exhibitions.

Museum of Fine Arts: Known for its six original Monet oil paintings, the museum owns one of the most prestigious permanent collections in the southeast U.S.

Great Explorations: The Children's Museum. A participatory educational / entertainment institution.

St. Petersburg Museum of History: St. Petersburg's local historical museum, featuring a permanent exhibition on the "Benoit" airboat, America's first commercial airliner.

Mahaffey Theater: St. Petersburg's major performing arts center. Presents Florida Orchestra, Broadway shows, jazz series, dance, opera, "Class Acts" children's Programming.

Palladium: Mid-sized 800 seat "community" performing arts facility, transformed from historic former church building.

University of South Florida - Downtown St. Petersburg Campus: Offers academic programs for students at all levels. Freshmen can enroll in the Learning Community, a program for students who wish to attend their first two years of college in a close-knit group of scholars.

University of South Florida - College of Marine Science: The College of Marine Science at the University of South Florida is a comprehensive graduate research program whose excellent faculty and outstanding graduate students, at both the MS and PhD levels, interact together to solve complex scientific problems in all oceanographic environments.

St. Petersburg College: St. Petersburg college has campuses throughout the bay area and offers students a range of areas to study in four year academic programs.
