Sullivan Appointed Regional Chancellor of USF St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg, FL
(December 14, 2009) – Margaret Sullivan,
PhD, has been named Regional Chancellor of the University of South Florida St.
Petersburg, an independently accredited institution within the University of
South Florida System.
USF System President Judy
Genshaft made the announcement following a series of meetings with members of
the institution. Sullivan is a nationally known expert on the accreditation and
strategy of higher educational institutions and has served as Interim Regional
Chancellor for the past 12 months.
"Margaret Sullivan is decisive,
visionary and inclusive,” President Genshaft said. "She is a great person to
lead this extraordinary institution, which has created a superlative place for
our students, and continues to achieve its remarkable potential.”
A noted leader in national
education policy, Sullivan has worked for the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools Commission on Colleges. She has worked with more than 200

broader leadership team, implemented policies and best practices, developed

In 2009, Sullivan:

Worked closely
with the Campus Board on its direction and agenda

Led successful
response to probationary status; USFSP removed from probationary status by SACS
in June, 2009

Re-organized
USFSP to increase visibility of institution through the establishment of the
Division of External Affairs
·
Led USFSP
response to severe budget reductions while ensuring the quality of the student
learning experience
·
Hosted the
dedication of the Debbie and Brent Sembler Family Fountain and Harborwalk at
USFSP(Oct 30, 2009)
·
Provided key
leadership to the USF relationship with SACS, including implementation of best
practices for the USF System.
