Mayor Ken Welch has named his picks for the long-awaited Historic Gas Plant redevelopment: Blake Investment Partners (The Burg Bid) for the 58-acre mixed-use site, and the Pinellas County Housing Authority for a nearby affordable senior housing project. Blake's plan includes residential housing, retail, office space, hotels, and parks designed around a walkable neighborhood, with the Woodson African American Museum relocation site set to break ground first. PCHA's project will bring a seven-story, 94-unit affordable senior housing community with tenant preference for those historically displaced from the district. The selections now head to City Council for review and approval before any construction agreements can be finalized.
