Homeowners Financial Group: All About Family

Homeowners Financial Group is a national mortgage lender based out of Scottsdale, Arizona that is committed to supporting borrowers while building a corporate culture focused on family. In 2019, the St. Petersburg branch, led by Branch Manager and Partnership member Tammy Boldt, won Branch of the Year. We decided to sit down with Boldt to hear how her team, who she considers more of a family, achieved this honor.

In April 2019, the St. Pete team attended Homeowners Financial Group’s annual State of the Union in Arizona where they watched another branch be awarded the Branch of the Year award. After the ceremony, Boldt and her team met for cocktails and laughed over the idea of them winning the award the following year, storming the stage donned in formal wear to accept the award. The competitive nature of the St. Pete branch took over and they all agreed that next year, they would be the winners of Branch of the Year. The criteria for this award was not only a high production of loans, but it also hinged on the branch’s community involvement and family spirit. Thankfully, the St. Pete team was already excelling in all three categories.

Boldt is a huge personal supporter of Creative Clay, a local nonprofit whose mission is to help people with disabilities achieve full and inclusive lives through access to the arts by providing expressive, educational and vocational experiences. In order to support their cause, Boldt decorated their downtown offices with artwork made by the Creative Clay participants. As a team, the St. Pete branch does quarterly initiatives to give back to the community. In their latest initiative, they raised funds to donate to local communities most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and together they were able to raise $11,000!

Additionally, when their offices shut down at the beginning of the pandemic, Boldt gathered all the snacks they keep in the office to donate to The Kind Mouse, a local nonprofits whose focus is to feed children coming from homes with food insecurities. She thought “Who better to donate all of this food than our CEO himself!” Though he is headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, the team likes to keep his presence around to inspire them in their work, so they created this cardboard cut-out of him to keep in the office. Check it out with their donated food to the left.

The St. Pete team, consisting of 14 people total, isn’t lacking in family spirit either! Boldt was very intentional with bringing people on to her team in order to create the ideal group that could collaborate and support each other in their important work. In order to combat loneliness and disconnectedness throughout the pandemic, some of the St. Pete team met for daily, socially distant walks to create a space for the “water cooler talk” so many of us were missing while working from home this year.

Like any good family, the St. Pete team is competitive. Homeowners Financial Group publishes a monthly newsletter for their branches around the nation, and Boldt and her team have committed to being spotlighted in every publication for the last 2 years, whether it be being recognized as a top producer, or showing off their family fun at the office. One example of this was Selfie Day, where Homeowners Financial Group held a contest to see what branch could take the best selfie. The St. Pete branch won with their creative idea to take a selfie of everyone on their team taking a selfie! Check out one of the winning photos featured in that month's newsletter to the right.

Their competitive nature doesn’t end at funny selfies either. This year, the St. Pete branch has been having record setting months for new purchase and refinances, and by the end of the year they expect to exceed the stretch goal they had set for 2020 by $40 million. When I asked Boldt to what she contributes the success too, she said it wasn’t only because of low interest rates encouraging refinancing or the troves of people moving back to their now-flourishing hometown, but she really credits her team. “The executive team of Homeowners Financial Group really care about their employees, and that passion trickles down to encourage our employees to be the best versions of themselves and really put their heart into every loan.”

If you’re looking for a team that's more like family to help you navigate the world of mortgages, give our local Homeowners Financial Group a call! Find more information on their website.
