Pier District

Anchoring the Pier District is the new St. Petersburg Pier, which opened in July of 2020 to wide acclaim. It was recognized by USA Today as one of the country’s Best New Attractions in 2020 and was recently awarded Best Landscape/Urban Development by Engineering News-Record Southeast. The waterfront amenity offers top-notch food and drink, playgrounds, splash pad, beach, picnic area, watercraft launches, outdoor art installations, a fishing deck, the science-themed and locally-based Tampa Bay Watch Discovery Center, a local vendor marketplace, stunning aquatic sunrises and a multitude of places to take in the picturesque waterfront views. The St. Petersburg History Museum expansion, located at the entrance of the Pier, is currently underway.

THE VOICE OF THE COMMUNITY

The leadership of St. Petersburg, over 100 years ago, had the vision to create a city that capitalized on its beautiful water views. The building of a waterfront park system and our initial city pier was a destination for locals and tourists alike. Now, 100 years later, the city has completely reimagined our city pier into a world class 26-acre park. The new Pier includes restaurants, a rooftop bar, the breathtaking Janet Echelman sculpture, a magnificent playground with splash pad and Spa Beach.

“We, as a city, are so fortunate to enjoy this unique walkable park system where we can stroll, exercise and celebrate festivals and holidays. As new developments are imagined and completed, it is comforting to know our waterfront will remain open for all to enjoy.”
