What the Flock is Going on at… The Wayland!

Member Spotlight: The Wayland (Formerly Urban Flats)

On June 20th, the former Urban Flats invited all its residents to The Flamingle, their Grand Reopening Party.  This Instagram-worthy bash was complete with a table full of succulents for guests to take home, music provided by Ronnie Dee & the Superstars, a corn hole game displaying the new logo, and flamingo pool floats that created a Social Influencers dream background.

Delicious small bites, deserts and cocktails were provided by amazing local restaurants that residents can find just a few blocks away: No Vacancy, Dr. BBQ, Maple Street, and Swah-rey.

The Flamingle was The Wayland’s way of thanking residents for their patience throughout the renovation as well as showcasing all the new amenities to the greater St. Petersburg community at large. These new amenities include a brand-new fitness center, co-working space, redesigned courtyard, pet spa, dog park, and an automated package room. The start-of the-art fitness center includes a Peloton studio, yoga room, free weights, and cardio equipment. They have also added a co-working space with private work pods and conference room, which they left open during the Flamingle for guests to explore.  The pet spa features two pet wash stations and a drying area.

Although the project is a renovation of an existing structure, member Joe Stampone informed us that the goal was to create amenities that are brand new and rival those of any new development in the area, which they certainly succeeded in doing. By renovating an older vintage community, as opposed to building ground-up, they are able to deliver a unique and cool product at a value price point. The unit mix is primarily studios and 1-bedrooms, but the layouts are great and feel large (click here for floor plans) In addition to upgrading the unit interiors they created lots of common area spaces where residents can gather and collaborate. The co-working area, resident lounge, and courtyard are designed to feel like an extension of the private living environment, making all of The Wayland their home.

So what’s next? Stampone told us that phase II of the renovation will include a resident lounge, demonstration kitchen, arts & crafts room, resident storage, secure bike storage, a new leasing office with model units, and a redesigned west lobby entrance. Additionally, they’re seeking an on-site retailer such as a café, gallery, or healthy food option that will serve as an amenity to their residents. In addition to the physical renovation, they’ll be rolling out new resident events and programs, such as The Flamingle, to ensure an amazing resident experience.

With all the great amenities and attainable rents, The Wayland truly lives up to its tagline “Where Local Vibes Reside.” It’s a place built for the people who make Downtown St Pete great. It’s for the artists, bar tenders, waiters, retail workers, and professionals who make the area so unique and cool. It apparent that every aspect of the project was designed with them in mind.
