Membership Spotlight: Maria Ehrlich, Catamount Constructors

Catamount Constructors is a national general contracting firm with deep roots in collaboration and community building. Founded in 1997 and currently headquartered in Denver, the company now operates offices in Atlanta, San Antonio, Savannah, and Tampa. As a best-in-class employee-owned company, Catamount’s success is built on outstanding performance, shared success, and authentic relationships — with nearly 80 percent of its work coming from repeat clients.

The company’s Tampa office opened in 2023 to support Florida’s growing construction market. Since then, Catamount has focused on expanding its work beyond industrial projects into healthcare, retail, and mixed-use development. This expansion is led locally by Maria Ehrlich, Director of Business Development for the Tampa office, who joined the firm about six months ago.

Ehrlich’s focus is helping diversify Catamount’s Florida portfolio and strengthening its influence across the state. Before joining Catamount, she spent years connecting development teams across multiple construction and real estate sectors, giving her a broad understanding of how to manage growth while maintaining quality and efficiency.

A St. Petersburg native and graduate of Boca Ciega High School, Ehrlich has a personal stake in the growth and development of her hometown. She became involved with the St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership after attending the monthly Developer’s Council meetings that convene leading residential and commercial developers to work with city leaders on public policies that support smart, sustainable growth. She was impressed with the collaboration the organization was able to cultivate and decided to become a member to engage further.

Having watched downtown evolve from a quiet district into one of Tampa Bay’s most vibrant areas, Ehrlich sees St. Pete as a model for balanced, community-driven growth. She highlighted the city’s attention to its parks, arts, and waterfront spaces, as well as its recent efforts to expand affordable housing and encourage mixed-use redevelopment in other areas.

Catamount Constructors is currently pursuing opportunities to work with healthcare providers and mixed-use developers in the Tampa Bay area. While the firm has no active projects in downtown St. Petersburg yet, they hope to contribute to the city’s continued progress through projects that reflect its emphasis on quality construction, early-stage collaboration, and forging strong relationships.

Catamount looks forward to continuing to grow in Florida — particularly in healthcare, industrial, retail and mixed use construction — while remaining grounded in the values that define its employee-owned culture.
