Williams Park revitalization plans take shape

Downtown St. Petersburg stakeholders believe new state funding and a detailed vision will propel the city’s first park into the future.

A recently reborn Williams Park Partnership received a ceremonial check for $800,000 Tuesday afternoon from Sen. Darryl Rouson and Rep. Bernie Jacques. Shaun Drinkard, vice president of the St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership, will soon become the former nonprofit’s CEO.

The overarching goal is to restore Williams Park to its active, safe and vibrant roots. A renowned consultant, along with new infrastructure and daily, weekly and annual programmatic elements, will aid those efforts.
